Exploring the dynamic interplay between enclosure and expansion, visitors are welcomed by a sweeping driveway terminating in an austere forecourt. It is only on crossing the entry threshold that the stunning vista of the Loddon River valley is revealed. Considerable attention was given to ensuring the home is not only comfortable but also highly efficient, incorporating features such as double glazing, enhanced insulation, air-sourced heat pumps for heating and cooling and an extensive solar power plant.
The interior design deliberately juxtaposes the colonial aesthetic with modern glass and steel living areas, using ‘punch through’ portals to delineate transitions between different zones. Employing refined material choices and exceptional craftsmanship, the house sings to the beauty of Australian materials and artisanship. Designed as an integrated whole, the home and garden form a unified vision—one that will come into its own as the landscape matures in the coming years.
