Originally built in the late 1960s, our Tay Tay project reflects timeless mid-century modern design with bluestone walls, flat rooflines, and exposed beams. While its charm endured, the small, disconnected living spaces and limited natural light no longer suited the needs of a growing family.
The design has reimagined the space, seamlessly blending heritage and modern functionality. Key structural changes include a spacious new living area opening to a covered alfresco and pool, and the addition of three bedrooms upstairs, each with its own ensuite and a retreat with stunning city views.
A dramatic double-height void floods the home with light, creating a sense of openness. The preservation of the original bluestone walls honours the home’s heritage while enhancing its character in modernised spaces.
At the heart of the home lies the kitchen—a statement of elegance and practicality. Its 5.6-meter Calacatta marble island and solid timber joinery create a sophisticated hub for family life.
Natural materials, including marble, timber, and textured stone, harmonise with the bluestone, delivering a home that balances style and practicality. The result is a thoughtfully designed family home that bridges the charm of its past with the comforts of modern living—an effortless blend of old and new.
